A post by @whosavedwhoanimalrescue on TikTok caption: Dust bathing is important for chickens, as it not only rids of excess oils, but also mites, parasites and keeps their feathers clean. It’s seems odd and counterproductive but chickens get dirty in order to stay clean 🧼 With that said, Greasy the chicken is the first to step in! Probably because she’s the greasiest/oiliest chicken (hence her name). The chickens aren’t able to have their dust bath outside since it’s winter here, so we gave them this kiddie pool to bathe in. They were ALL trying to squeeze in the pool after this video, so we definitely had to get more dust pools for them. #animalsanctuary #animalrescue #rescuechickens #farmsanctuary #sanctuarylife #fyp #fypシ

A post by @whosavedwhoanimalrescue on TikTok caption: MAGIC & LUCY UPDATE! Magic and Lucy were kept in their awful conditions for over a decade, and when we heard about them we truly didn’t know what their outcome would be. Our goal and focus was to get them out of their situation, and we weren’t even sure if we could do that. But we did! As seen in previous post. Once we did, it was a slow and steady process to get them back on the right track. The first thing we did was immediately called the vet and farrier and made appointments for the following day. The vet told us that the ponies were both extremely bloated due to poor nutrition and lack of food. We had to gradually introduce new foods in increments, in order to safely reduce the bloat and introduce healthy weight gain and nutrition. For Magic, the vet also mentioned that because he was in a stall for so long, his legs had billowed. He wasn’t sure if Magic would be able to run or use his legs properly. He would require daily physiotherapy, which we started immediately. And although we weren’t able to rectify all the damage that was done to him, we are so happy to see the amazing improvements he’s made and to watch him run! We also didn’t just put them outside right away, especially since they hadn’t been before. It was also a gradual process. We wanted them to first settle in to their new stalls, get checked by the vet, get their hooves done and get some proper food in them before going outside. After a couple weeks, we slowly started taking them outside to see how they would do. We then slowly increased their outdoor time day by day, until finally they were out in their paddock. The process took months, contrary to their one min rescue video. It’s snowing here in Ontario 🇨🇦 and their undercoats grew in perfectly for the winter. They have adjusted really well through every step of the way. Although it was nice for them to experience the snow, we can’t wait till spring comes back! We constantly strive to give all our rescues everything we possibly can! If anyone has comments, questions or suggestions, we would love to hear it!❤️ #animalsanctuary #farmsanctuary #animalrescue #pony #rescuehorse #horse #righttorescue #animalrescuestory #fyp

A post by @whosavedwhoanimalrescue on TikTok caption: Interesting story! Brownie just showed up at the pond one day and he never left. He’s not the typical wild mallard duck breed that we get in the summer either. We don’t know where he came from, who he was, why he didn’t leave, he was just there. But because he decided to stay, we just treated him like our own. He was different than the rest of the ducks though, he kept to himself, never bonded with any of the other ducks, never tried to mate with the other ducks or vice versa. In the winter, we always brought our ducks in because we don’t have an all season outdoor enclosure for them yet. And even though Brownie was free to leave whenever, he didn’t. Brownie was always the hardest to catch and the last one to come in for the winter. Libby was surrendered by a family who got the duck as a pet and realized having a pet duck wasn’t what they expected and they could no longer care for him. But because Libby grew up with humans, he was a little bit different then the rest of the ducks and he had no fear. He would just walk straight up to predators, which is why he goes inside the barn every night. When Libby first went to the pond, Brownie was already there, but they didn’t bond or become instant friends. They were pretty much both loners for awhile. It made us sad to see, because we want all our animals to bond, to have friends and to be happy. Luckily, the two started hanging out and now they’re inseparable. They nap together, eat together, walk together, stare at nothing together; it’s the most adorable thing! #BestFriends #sanctuary #animalsanctuary #friendsnotfood #ducks #ducksoftiktok #rescueducks #rescueanimals #animalrescue #animallovers #friendship #fyp #whosavedwhocrew

A post by @whosavedwhoanimalrescue on TikTok caption: We had shared this rescue over on our IG and wanted to share our rescues here on TikTok. Here’s the story of our pony rescue. When we heard about this, we knew we had to step in and help! These ponies had been living in these dire conditions for over a decade. Although we don’t know Lucy’s life before coming into this unfortunate fate, we do know that Lucy had given birth to Magic in these conditions. He’s over 10 years old, and the two of them did not get to go outside, never left the stall, did not have any vet care and were living in their own filth. They also had no access to water or food. There had been previous unsuccessful attempts at rescuing these ponies by others. We were asked to help, and although it was difficult, we were able to finally convince the “owner” to surrender them to sanctuary. It’s been years coming, but these ponies are finally free and get to live the life they truly deserve! #righttorescue #animalrescue #horserescue #rescuehorse #horse #pony #animalsanctuary #farmsanctuary #animalrights #animallovers #horsesoftiktok #fyp

A post by @whosavedwhoanimalrescue on TikTok caption: Mary is a kind and gentle soul. She has such a quirky personality and entertains us everyday with her shenanigans. After rescue, her goat friends were able to gain a healthy weight and got bigger and stronger. Meanwhile, Mary unfortunately stayed the same, frail and feeble. She gained a little bit of weight but not nearly enough to be healthy. Mary was also extremely bonded to one of our other rescue goat Strings. However, Strings passed away this winter. It’s always extremely heartbreaking when one passes away in a bonded pair. They don’t seem to understand what happened to their best friend. They look for them, and you can’t explain why their best friend isn’t there anymore. 😔 After Strings passed, we tried putting her with the rest of her rescue goat friends but because the rest are bigger and stronger now, they easily knock Mary over. So we don’t leave her alone with them unsupervised. Otherwise, she now hangs out with the rest of the sanctuary misfits. She’s such a good goat though, luckily she gets along with every other species at the sanctuary. And she’s also always around us as well. Although we rescued Mary, there has been irreparable damage caused which has and will shorten her life. But until then, we will love her and give her everything she needs for the remainder of her days. #bekind #animalsanctuary #farmsanctuary #animalrescue #rescuegoat #rescueanimals #animallover #friendsnotfood #vegan #vegankind #reality #righttorescue #compassion #fyp #fypageシ

A post by @whosavedwhoanimalrescue on TikTok caption: Just to clarify, it seems like Fern only does this to us when we give him his veggies, not any other time. We believe it’s his way of protecting his flock. Either that or he hates his veggies treats, even though he eats all of it. Who knows 🤷‍♀️😂 It’s a thankless job y’all! In all seriousness, Fern is doing great. His birth defect doesn’t slow him down one bit, and he runs around his outdoor area with no problems. He is a happy, healthy boy, and we are so delighted to have him as one of our forever residents. He continues to be seen by our bird specialist, and we are so pleased to announce that there are no other health issues. We love you Fern ❤️ #animalsanctuary #animalrescue #farmsanctuary #rescueduck #sanctuarylife #ducksoftiktok #fyp
