It is critical that educators acknowledge and understand systemic oppression - not just for Black children, but for ALL children. And this ain’t about making white children feel bad or anti-patriotism. It’s about the fact that children impacted by systemic oppression need something different from their teachers - and if you deny this oppression exists, you can’t teach children in a way that helps them thrive. We need to teach in a way that delivers content with love and respect and belongingness. That’s how we build resilience.
