Day number 19 is upon us on the #sidhilladventcalendar and we’re proud to introduce to you our Business Administrator, Mrs Charlotte Nowell Joining the team back in February, Charlie has proved invaluable to our operations here. Picking up the systems like she designed them, our Charlie is the POD goddess of SHT. She has overseen some quite complex introductions of system implementations this year, and she does it all with style, elegance and grace. Speaking fondly of SHT, Charlie says; "Ive know Jo & Sid for 14 years, and watched from a far the business being built and made a success. Day 18 on our #sidhilladventcalendar beans only one thing… One week to go until Christmas Day!!! Hiding behind door number 18 is name and face that’s synonymous with all things Sid Hill Transport; we give you, Mr. Dave Philpott 🫶🫶 Loved and adored by everyone who is honoured enough to know him, Dave started his career with Sid Hill transport as one of the first full-time drivers, having been lifelong friends with the main man himself. Dave now fulfils a multiskilled role, comprising of being a full-time planner, cover Driver, asbos most frequent driver, leader of our Spanish transport division, and last but by no means least an all round legend Here is what our Dave had to say ‘I have Been with Sid Hill Transport now 4 years, was a big jump at first as never done general haulage before. Plus going to work with a friend you known 25-30 years putting the trust in you to drive his wagon. There was a lot of things could have gone to pot, But step by step we got there haha. I now do two rolls within the company, cover driver and planning. ( not sure which one am better at but am still here so ) 😂 Sid and Jo have treat me like family but also told me what I need to do to improve weather that’s work life or social life. To which had massively helped me over these past 4 years doesn’t go unnoticed either 👊 My best job would have to be Hungry F1 to experience it all so close up, which we definitely did….also to meet and get a picture with Brad Pitt himself haha! Behind door number 16 on our #sidhilladventcalendar is a returning driver toSid Hill Transport Ltd, mr Ian Hopkinson and his stunning LHD Renault T-High, a fleet-first #Lowride for us, complete with all the bells and whistles in true #SidHillStyle. You may recall V88 MYA donning one of Sid’s daughters name on her reg; this is the second, a loving touch towards Sid’s youngest Daughter, Ella 🩷🩷 Affectionately known as ‘Hoppo’ Ian’s knowledge of roads and routes around Europe is both extensive and impressive. He is so laid back he is almost horizontal, which will come in handy next month when Ian goes in for a knee operation, laying him up for over a month recovering. Speaking about why he returned to us here, Hoppo states ‘The variety of work here at SHT is great. A lot of European trips keeps me happy out there on the roads, and the team around me here is simply unparalleled. How did we get to day 15 already?! Wow! Anyway, behind door number 15 on our #sidhilladventcalendar lies one of our sister-truck Scania S660 #v8 LHD, OH51 DHL, competently captained by no other than mr Luke Park Luke brings quick wit and banter in abundance to the team. He is a strong team player, with a heart as big as the v8 lump at the heart of his stunning lorry. He is most in his element when he’s navigating Europes highways, ticking off as many places as he possibly can on his travels. When not behind the wheel, Luke can be found sunning himself in various exotic locations around tSid Hill Transport Ltd quality time with his two boys Joshua and Joseph 👌🏻🫶 Echoing most of his teammates, Luke shares, ‘Working at Sid Hill Transport Ltd allows me to visit some stunning places whilst being paid for that privilege! Everyone in the team gets along really well, and all muck in to help each other, no matter how big or small the task may be. We are Never asked too much of, and no two days are the same; the variety of work keeps the flame alive. We’ve reached Christmas Eve on our #sidhilladventCalendar and behind door 24 lies the true boss of Sid Hill Transport Ltd, our Lady and our Leader, our finance Director Mrs Joanna Hill. Affectionately known as Jo, our business simply wouldn’t be the success it is without this incredible woman. As the saying goes, ‘behind every great man, is an even greater Woman’ and this perfectly sums up Sid and Jo. In charge of all things finance, Jos role as finance director must be challenging, but the proof is in the pudding when it comes to just how good she is at what she does. Jo describes to us; ‘I was asked why did I chose to work for Sid Hill??! Well …. actually im not sure I had a choice as I had to quit my job due to Sid Hill Transport taking off so quickly – I originally thought it would be a part time role that I would support Sid with in terms of finance and recruitment alongside my job of 9 years, but that idea soon got thrown out the window in true #SidHillStyle ! I quickly realised that Sid needed support with the business and his big plans, not just in terms of trucks and drivers but also with back office functions that needed to be robust enough to deal with all Sids demands and the finances that had to be in order to keep up with his invetsments and constant ideas . And there certainly have been so many changes that’s for sure ! I do love my job as there is always a new challenge to combat and the family feel that we have built between the team is something others envy - I really hope this remains – I will certainly try my hardest to ensure it does! Day 22 on our #sidhilladventcalendar and we give you the man behind our calendar, our BDM, mr Jordan Dempsey Jordan was a full time driver for us in OK51 DHL, but when his 1st daughter/3rd child came along, circumstances changed and he took a different turn within Sid Hill Transport Ltd Jordan has developed and flourished in all the time he has worked for Sid Hill Transport . He’s embraced each and every challenge that has been thrown his way and it cant be easy popping on a new head for each time he switches his role. Jordan oversees Business development, maintenance and compliance, customer relationships, our social media, and jumps in and out of the planning when needed, as well as being a cover driver too. Many a role that he seems to take to day in day out! He’s seen as a trustworthy member of the team by his colleagues and the directors and nothing is ever too much trouble; he literally bleeds Sid Hill Transport ! Speaking highly of SHT, Jordan says; ‘I choose to work at Sid hill transport for the supportive and encouraging atmosphere here; where individuality, creativity and ideas are both welcomed and actioned. Early on in my nearly 3 years here, it was looking like I was having to move on, however Sid literally made a position for me to keep me here; he took a gamble on me. Never in my working life has anyone ever shown such faith and belief in me; There simply aren’t enough words to describe how forever humbled and grateful I am and will be for this. 🫶🫶💙💙 Our team bond is infectious, and the mutual respect each member has for one another really is something to behold. Denise occupies a part time role within Sid Hill Transport Ltd, but her impact and input to the way the business runs is anything but part time. Brainstorming, designing and implementing both change and growth, Denise helps make decisions with the directors, guiding the ship on our consistent upward trajectory 💪🏻 Denise recently celebrated her wedding day in the stunning Bagnie di Lucca, Italy, and we couldn’t be more happy for her and her Husband 💙🩷 Author of our monthly newsletter, Mrs Love rounds up all things Sid Hill Transport and presents them in the form of a newsletter that gets emailed to all the staff, informing everyone of progress, celebrating individuals successes and recognising efforts across the board - these really are a great and fun way of keeping up to date with all things SHT! Day number 21 on the #sidhilladventcalendar, and behind the door lies another life-long friend of Sid, planner extraordinaire, our very own ‘Big Deal In Transport’ mr Liam Roberts. Liam and Sid aren’t just work colleagues- they aren’t even just friends; they’re brothers. Their bond is unbreakable can’t be duplicated. 💙🫶 Liam has been with Sid Hill Transport Ltd since day dot, and smashes his planning role day in day out. He is very much a a huge part of the foundations of our epic team. Speaking fondly of Sid and his role here, Liam recalls… ‘Sid and I have been best mates for going on 40 years. I grew up around trucks and travelled all over Europe as a kid. When he asked me if I wanted to come and help him out with some admin I didn’t hesitate for a second. Although I’d never worked in an office environment it just felt like this is where I should be. Watching him work in the first few weeks I knew that he was building something special. It was a struggle to begin with. It took months before I was allowed to talk to anyone on the phone. The company grows everyday yet the morals and foundations it has been built on stay exactly the same. Everyone is treated as a person here. There isn’t many jobs where you look forward to going to work and have a smile on your face. Personally and professionally I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I have two amazing Directors and friends in Sid and Jo who have gone above and beyond for me in my life, and I thank them both so much for this. We’re getting close to the big day now, and As we venture through door number 20 on the #sidhilladventcalendar, join us in saying hello to our Accounts assistant, mr Will Davis Will joined the team to give assistance and support to the accounts department, and since his introduction, he has really developed himself during his 2 year career here. Super laid- back, and one of the most down to earth people you could meet, when not working Will can be found under the bonnet of a car tinkering with tools, or sat beside a lake doing a spot of fishing 🎣 Will shares with us all; ‘I work at Sid Hill Transport Ltd due to their company values and morals. We are treated as a member of the family and not just a number.
