Today, I’m speaking from a place of heartbreak. It’s truly devastating to see that, despite everything we know, so many people still chose to support Donald Trump. This is someone who has repeatedly shown himself to be an unapologetic bigot, a misogynist, a racist, and even a convicted rapist. He has openly voiced plans to strip away essential rights—from women’s reproductive rights to crucial protections within our education system. It’s heartbreaking because these votes didn’t just support a candidate; they endorsed an agenda that threatens the safety, dignity, and future of millions. This is a man who has no issue with defunding the Board of Education, taking away rights that support our most vulnerable students—autistic children, children with disabilities, students with IEPs and 504 plans who depend on these protections to have equal access to education. He’s willing to put their futures at risk, to strip away vital support, all in the name of profit and power. It’s beyond disappointing to realize that, for some people, the hope of financial gain outweighs basic human rights and compassion. This vote wasn’t just a political choice—it was a choice to look away from the struggles of so many who are marginalized, disabled, or in need of support. I’m heartbroken, but I’m not giving up. I stand with everyone who feels betrayed, hurt, and afraid. Now, more than ever, we must come together, support each other, and fight for the rights and dignity that everyone deserves. We cannot let hatred and greed dictate the future of this country.
