Even though I will not be inheriting the family farm, I still want to see it be passed down to generations to come. This inheritance tax means that when the older generation passes away the younger generation will be taxed an obscene amount of money to carry on farming. For some farmers this won’t affect them as they could afford this but for MOST farmers this does affect them. Now what does this mean for British farming? Well they simply cannot afford to keep producing food for you and the country. So long story short British farming will be abolished and we will rely on imported produce which will be more expensive and lower quality. Spain has stopped importing fruit and veg to the UK because of the greenhouse situation and they are focusing on their own country- what if all imports stopped? Less and less food will be on the shelves because Britain won’t have farmers to supply the UK.
