This was by far the worst Uber experience I’ve ever had. Here is what happened... I ordered an Uber to the airport. The driver was on the phone, arguing about something. He was gesturing repeatedly, moving hands off the steering wheel repeatedly. He wasn’t focused on the street at all, and I was getting concerned because we’re about to enter the highway in a few minutes. I made some comments but he ignored those. He was getting more and more aggressive in his phone conversation, and didn’t focus on the street at all. He missed one turn... And then another. I had to tell him, and his reaction was just shocking. He told me that this is his car.... He unbuckled the seat belt and got out of the car.... Getting too close to me. It was so scary. I felt threatened fearing that he will get aggressive and physical with me. I didn’t want to stay in the car any minute longer and when he unbuckled his seat belt I was afraid that he would touch or follow me. I felt so helpless in front of an angry man who showed me his fists and is physically stronger than me. Not everything is on camera. I didn’t start recording at the beginning, only once I saw that he is clearly not ok. After I got out of the car, I called Uber’s emergency line in panic, stumbling over my words. I wanted to make sure he doesn’t pick up another passenger. After a few messages back and forth, all I got was a refund for a ride and no assurance that they take this seriously and that the driver would have to be checked before he’s able to take another passenger. I’m afraid he is still on the road, endangering passengers. Dear girls we need to be careful! I believe that if a man had been on his back seat the situation would have looked very differently. To be honest, I don’t know if I handled everything correctly. I have never encountered a situation like this. I thought this would never happen to me. Please share this with other women so that they will be more prepared than I was.
