A post by @carlihamiltonnn on TikTok caption: Has anyone ever given you a gift that you’ll never be able to replay them for or even have the right words or enough words to express your gratitude? Here’s mine. After I had B I lost almost all of my independent mobility. I couldn’t walk on my own, stand on my own or even transfer on my own. I had to give up a lot and driving was one of the first things to go. About a year ago my sister in law and her fiancé came to me and offered me the greatest gift. Independence and freedom. We started the planning, the research, the doctors visits, the bids, to get me driving again. They spared no expense to get me the van of my dreams that I can drive all by myself… from a joystick! As you can imagine this was no ballin on a budget. And they did that for me. No questions asked. No promise to have to pay them back. I didn’t have to give them my first born, or give them my voice (little 🧜🏼‍♀️ reference) they just did that for me. Because they love me. Because they wanted me to have the best life, freedom and independence. They wanted me to be able to go to Starbucks on my own and to take B to dance class. They did this for me because they are full of love and generosity. The first time I went out on my own, no one in the car, I blasted music, had the windows down and just cried and drove. It was a glimmer moment. I will never forget that feeling. The feeling of pure gratitude and joy. Since I’ve gotten, Dolly - that’s her name, I’ve been able to pick B up from my moms, take myself to get my nails done, go to hobby lobby, Starbucks, get lunch and so much more. @rachelahamilton and Walter, I appreciate you more than I will ever be able to express. I love you both. You two are the good in the world 🥹🥲🩷 To everyone on the road, if you see me driving around town, crying and smiling… just know that they’re happy tears 🥲 and that I’m living my best life 🥰🩷🥹 #disabilityliving #disability #handcontrols #emc #aevit #generosity #gratitude #giving #giftoflife
