Please read and help if you can. This is for my sister. The link is also in my Bio. About 9 hours into our 13-hour road trip to Florida to look at homes to purchase for when we move here in May. We were somewhere in "nowhere" Mississippi and there on the side of the road was a small black dog, obviously hit. We thought it was gone. As we drove by, it popped its' head up. IT WAS ALIVE! We obviously had to turn around - can't leave a dog on the side of the road - picked it up, put it in the backseat & sped to the nearest town. On the way, we called every vet, animal hospital, animal control, shelter, and even police department that we could find. People were referring us everywhere - no one was open. Finally, we found an Animal Hospital in Mobile, AL (an hour away) that was open & agreed to look at him. We broke at least 37 laws (sorry, Dad) trying to get us to this Animal Hospital in Mobile, AL. Meanwhile, in the backseat, the dog was struggling to breathe and whimpering. We honked at every slow driver and drove the entire way with my hazard lights on. The vet saw the dog, did x-rays. It has a broken pelvis & bruised lungs. Obviously was hit. Not microchipped. Small black pug, 1-2 years old. Male. Fixed. The dog spent last night in the oxygen chamber and on pain meds. Doctor says he needs surgery. My sister put her card on file, but the overall cost will be around $8,000. We definitely do not have that money to spend right now. If anyone knows of any Rescues or Foundations that would help with this, PLEASE let us know. We have also started a Go Fund Me for this dog's care. We will re-home him as needed.
