Yesterday, I gathered a troop of superheroes to run/walk through austin, spreading awareness for the foster care system, here in central Texas Austin Angels I was blown away by the support of locals on the trail, that were not only interested in learning more but wanted to pick up a cape and join in on the run - Youth in foster care are three times more likely to experience expulsion than their peers not in care. - Annually, 4,000 youth transition from foster care to homelessness. - A child with five or more placements has a 90% likelihood of entering the criminal justice system. - 91% of states are lacking adequate programs to address the mental health needs of youth in foster care. These stats are ALARMING and real, which only highlight the urgent need for support and action! The intention was always AWARENESS, didn’t matter if you ran, walked or jogged, just cover the most ground to reach the most people and with the route being about 6miles, I enjoyed seeing those step up to the plate and complete it Next month, we plan to run and support another austin nonprofit, so be on the lookout some superhero’s in ATX!
