Joinery layout. There have been people asking me to show the layout and marking process. Here is an example for the mortises, I try to do as little measuring as possible and rely as much as possible on just transferring cut lines. I use three main tools, good pencil with a fine point, a reliable square and some of these blue sliding rulers I found on Amazon. Making sure your stock is mill 100% square at the start of the project makes a world of difference when you get to this stage. It’s also a pretty peaceful and satisfying step in the process. #woodworking #joinery

After several years of work my big workbench top was ready for a refresh with Osmo PolyX. Step 1: sand the whole top. Step 2: roll polyx on with the Osmo roller and let cure. Step 3: lightly sand and wipe off dust with a wet cloth and blow dust out of dog holes. Step 4: apply a second coat and let cure. Ready to go! #woodworking

First log on the new @Turbosawmill !! Along the top Jake spent time taking small sections off and making the final adjustments to blade based on how the saw was cutting and the marks it was making in the log and once that was done the saw could do what it does best which is make clean, accurate and straight dimensional lumber and beams! We did a bunch of 2x8’s and 2x12’s and some 4x4’s at the end from the very bottom of the log but I forgot to film that part but you can see them on the truck. This model will cut anything up to 12x12” beams and if you do a double horizontal cut you can cut up to 11x24”. #sawmill #woodworking

One way to cut clean and accurate mortises is to grab the @Festool Canada OF 1400 router with the clip in bushing and some @Titebond Products Instant Bond glue and some small pieces of wood. Temporarily glue the wood on as a bushing guide and use the router to cut out all the material for the mortise and then pop the small wood pieces off, quickly sand off the glue and chisel out the corners 👍

One great thing about the @Festool Canada UG-CSC-SYS workbase that is designed for the CSC SYS 50 cordless table saw is the flip-up support. It is the same height as the top of the table of the saw so even though it’s a small saw you can still work on bigger pieces thanks to the support on the side.

Another way this Taurus Craco Barth lift table is coming in handy is at the radial arm saw. I haven’t built the in-feed and put-feed tables yet so I roll the Barth over and lift it to the right height to support the longer pieces I’m cutting #woodworking #tools
