Well, 2025 didn't start how I expected, but it did help me find a deeper appreciation for family, faith, and friends. Ellie started the new year by falling ill with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. She quickly became severely dehydrated, so we rushed her to ER, where they began treatment. After a few nights in the hospital, Ellie showed improvement, so we returned home. Two days later, we noticed that her leg had swollen up rapidly, so we went back to the ER. She had an infection and subsequent fever that progressively rose to over 105.5°F. This situation was one of the scariest moments of my life, and I feared the worst. So I did the only thing I could think of. I posted a story asking for your prayers. A few hours later, it was like a switch had flipped. Ellie started showing subtle signs of improvement, and within two days, we could go back home. She still has a lot of recovery ahead, but she's a fighter and making significant progress. If I can suggest two things 1) Identify an Emergency Vet near you – we had a plan to go to VEG (@veterinary_emergency_group), so when 💩 hit the fan (literally), we didn't have to waste time finding the care she needed. 2) Consider Pet Insurance – Everyone's situation is different, but pet insurance allowed us to focus on doing everything possible to help Ellie, and it significantly reduced the financial stressors. Thank you so much to everyone who prayed for us and sent such thoughtful messages. We're so grateful for this community. 🙏 Here's to a full recovery so we can get back to spreading smiles soon!
