And once in the air, maintaining a runner’s form with no ground resistance. 🎥 Throwback Time: Behind the Scenes of Eric ✨ @benedict_spence_dop 📝 Some Dop Notes👇 The Subway Scene: Recreating 1980s New York’s iconic subway vibe was no small feat! When decorating a real subway wasn’t an option, the team built a custom carriage on a gimbal in Budapest. With LED screens showing real NYC subway footage and dynamic lighting from pixel-mapped ARRI Sky Panels, the results were seamless. Inside Eric: For the series’ climax, capturing Vincent (Benedict Cumberbatch) inside the Eric costume required innovation. Filmed in a studio with a compact Alexa Mini camera attached directly to Cumberbatch, the setup ensured freedom of movement while maintaining intimacy. Custom lighting added a realistic glow, immersing viewers in the moment. 🎥 3D Zoetrope on a Vinyl Record 🎶 by director Daniel Wardh – Full notes and credits 👇! Created for @kutadistancel.ab - 78RPM // In it for the long run 📝 I often base my films on in-camera effects and creative transitions. During a slow autumn, in a media landscape increasingly dominated by rapidly produced content, it felt both inspiring and almost essential to take on a project where the visual effect could quite literally be touched on. It turned out to be far more complex than I initially imagined, but the process became almost therapeutic – an opportunity to immerse myself in the smallest details. We didn’t have a clear deadline for the project which gave me time for a lot of trial and a lot of error. Before gluing them to the record I did many rounds of just printed paper models to see the flow of the movement. Once that worked we glued small nails to a record to see if they stayed sharp in camera. When that seemed to work we used that thin line to place the center of balance for each little figure to finally get a nice optical flow and effect. Another fun fact is that the rental house @falsettrental we rented from somehow got a hold of Ingemar Bergmans old lens kit that he shot ”Fanny and Alexander” with. So we had that kit and ended up shooting this spot right by his old house”. Fun fact that it was shot with Ingemar Bergmans old lens kit, right by his old house in Sweden.
