We must continue to hold our leaders accountable and ensure that the voices of all Canadians are heard. If we have learned anything from this experience, I hope that Canadians have learned that citizens really need to really take their civic responsibility seriously and elected officials must be reminded their works is to serve the public interest, not their private interests. Today is February 14, 2024, two years after the Federal Government invoked the Emergencies Act. We still don’t know what was illegal about the protest and the federal Court deemed the federal government’s actions illegal and unjustified. Yesterday’s Federal Court ruling declaring the Emergencies Act as illegal is a great start to rebuilding public trust in Canada. Whether we agree or disagree with his views, engaging in mature discussions is necessary for intellectual growth and understanding.
