No one understands this better than Sri Lankan farmers, whose crop yields were DECIMATED after the government banned their use earlier this year. So what can be done? Berkeley-based Pivot Bio has an answer. Pivot Bio produces microorganisms that are injected into the soil, convert nitrogen in the air into ammonia, and deliver the right amount at the right time, directly into the roots of the crops—in any weather throughout the growing season, without damaging soil health. Producing these microorganisms also emits 50x less greenhouse gas compared to synthetic fertilizer production.
