A post by @glasgowslinglibrary on TikTok caption: We previously featured our baby size Beco Gemini. Did you know Beco also offer a great toddler carrier? Babywearing isn’t just for small babies, we have a range of toddler carriers available for hire too! toddlerhood can be a great time to use a carrier, when you have little legs who love to walk, don’t like their pram but get tired. A nice snuggle in a supportive carrier is a great answer to that! The Beco Toddler might be a good option for you.. Pros: - Structured and padded without feeling too bulky - More affordable option - Will last into preschool age for most! Cons: - Fixed panel width that doesn’t adjust - Straps may be tricky to adjust if carrying on your front due to one way adjust and positioning - Will only really fit big toddlers (2+ on average) #babywearing #glasgowslinglibrary #30daysofcarriers #beco #becotoddler

A post by @glasgowslinglibrary on TikTok caption: A popular carrier on the market, the Tula Explore. This model, unlike the ftg, offers front world facing in addition to other carrying positions so could be a great option if that is important to you. It offers comfort and style if you’re looking for a structured, padded carrier. Pros: - Good, easy adjustability. Suits many different body types and makes a great option if sharing a carrier with someone with a very different body. It’s quick and easy to adjust and fits both men and women well - Structured and padded, but soft. This carrier offers a thick waist band and padded shoulders but is not overly bulky feeling due to the soft fabric - lots of lovely colour ways and prints Cons: - No option to cross strap - Many find difficult to get on and off themselves using the back clip (Tip: try the tshirt method!) - Higher price point Available now for hire! #babywearing #glasgowslinglibrary #30daysofcarriers #tula #tulaexplore @baby_tula

A post by @glasgowslinglibrary on TikTok caption: Another carrier in our library that you may not have heard of, the Boba X. We stock this lovely neutral black model. A good adjustable carrier that will last until toddlerhood with adjustments. It has a hand pocket and hood and provides unique contoured straps which some may love. Pros: - Very adjustable panel, including perfect fit adjusters to change the panel height and Velcro to adjust panel width - Contoured shoulder straps with dual adjust for tightening - Additional features including pocket in waistband and detachable sun hood Cons: - The contoured shoulders means it’s not very comfortable to cross strap and can only really be worn comfortably in a rucksack style - Bulkier than comparable carriers, not one for fitting in your changing bag - Higher price point Available now for hire! #babywearing #glasgowslinglibrary #30daysofcarriers #stokke #bobaX #bobababycarrier

A post by @glasgowslinglibrary on TikTok caption: Are you looking for a harness carrier? The Stokke MyCarrier could be a great option for you. It can feel very overwhelming to set up (there are lots of bells and whistles so to speak) but once you know how it’s definitely not as intimidating as it first looks. This model is no longer available new but comes up frequently on the second hand market and therefore could make an affordable option that could last from around 1 month - 3 years, offering three different carrying positions (from parent facing, front world facing, back carry). We also have one in our library available for hire now. Pros: - This is a great harness carrier for breastfeeding parents, it’s one of the few that allows you to feed in the carrier thanks to the shape of the harness. It’s also beneficial for many as it doesn’t place any pressure on breast tissue - Very adjustable meaning it can be used from small baby to big toddler! - When setting up a bag carry, it acts more like a structured hiking carrier than a soft carrier, you put baby in, secure and then put onto your bag like a backpack as seen in the video. This is a great option if you want to back carry but are nervous about moving baby into your back Cons: - There is no doubt that when presented with all the parts of this carrier you’d be within your right to be like ✨ wtf ✨ it is A LOT at first glance. There are clips, buttons, hooks and even carabiners! There are metal rods, and separate panels for front and back carrying. It’s really a very overwhelming carrier to look at, but thankfully once set up it’s a lot easier - The carrier when set up for back carrying includes metal rods, this makes it feel more rigid on your back. This may suit some but not be as comfortable for others - As noted above, this is no longer retailed new so may be harder to get a hold off if you want to buy A carrier that doesn’t get a lot of love but is surprisingly comfortable and one we would recommend if you’re open to the initial learning curve with the set up. #babywearing #glasgowslinglibrary #30daysofcarriers #stokke #stokkemycarrier @stokkebaby

A post by @glasgowslinglibrary on TikTok caption: This new carrier from LennyLamb is suitable to wear as a single hip carrier or clips together to create a double carrier, perfect for twins. Like all LennyLamb carriers, they are lovely quality and come in lots of lovely patterns and colour ways. Pros: - Biggest pro, this can be used as one twin carrier or as two single hip carriers offering lots of versatility, especially for parents of multiple babies - Adjustable panels for both width and height, because they can be used as separate hip carriers, the panels can be adjusted for each baby individually - Very easy to use Cons: - High price point, this comes in at around £270 which is very expensive compared to other twin carriers on the market - The stretch on the shoulder can be tricky to get positioned comfy, especially if you have rounded shoulders - You need to be careful with the webbing, it’s very long and could be a trip hazard, it’s best to tuck away when using (see demo at end of the video) This could be an excellent investment for some parents, especially for twins. We have this available for hire in the library now. #babywearing #glasgowslinglibrary #30daysofcarriers #lennylamb #lennytwin #lennyhip @LennyLamb

A post by @glasgowslinglibrary on TikTok caption: A perfect alternative to stretchy wrap for newborns - the Close Caboo. Think stretchy wrap without the wrapping, with tightening through rings. Suitable from 5lbs. Pros: - Soft, supportive and lightweight fabric - perfect for little babies! - Simple to use once you know how - Gives the feel of a stretchy wrap without the long pieces of fabric and dragging tails to deal with, this option is often popular with people with busy lives for examples those with other young children to deal with when trying to carry newborns/small babies Cons: - Safety tested to average sized 3 year old, realistically not that comfortable and supportive for most past around 6 months - Small learning curve to get used to tightening through rings and in getting correct fit and positioning to ensure comfort for person carrying - Unlike a stretchy wrap, the cross is sewn in meaning it’s not mouldable to individual bodies Not getting on with your baby box stretchy? The Close Caboo might be what you’re looking for. We have lots available for hire now. #babywearing #glasgowslinglibrary #30daysofcarriers #closeparent #closecaboo

A post by @glasgowslinglibrary on TikTok caption: For those of us in Scotland you might hear stretchy wrap and automatically assume baby box wrap. However, as great as the baby box wrap is, it’s a one way stretch, meaning we have added tightening or fitting steps. Also available on my the market as two way stretchy wraps (stretches along width and length allowing a really nice snug fit) Pros: - Can be pre-tied and baby can be popped in and out without taking the wrap off - Easier to learn than a 1 way stretchy wrap - A perfect carrier for newborns, they are soft and supportive! Cons: - Leaning curve to learn the steps for wrapping - There is a lot of choice in the market with stretchy wraps. it can be a bit overwhelming and it’s not always clear if it’s a 1 or 2 way stretch when shopping online - Will only last up until around 6 months on average #babywearing #glasgowslinglibrary #30daysofcarriers #stretchywrap

A post by @glasgowslinglibrary on TikTok caption: Today we have the Infantino 4 in 1 flip carrier. A budget friendly carrier option that offers an ergonomic seat for baby. Like all carriers, pros and cons.. Pros: - Affordable for most - This particular model is made with natural materials (normal 4 in 1 flip is not) - 4 ways to carry: facing-in (narrow seat), facing-in (wide seat), world facing and back Cons: - Material, buckles, webbing etc feels “cheaper” than comparable carriers. (You would only really notice a difference if like me you’re handling a lot of carriers regularly!) - Webbing is stiff and quite difficult to tighten - Safety tested up to 14.5kg but will realistically not last that long (you can see Harris in the video is 9 months and already probably too big to fit in comfortably) Have you tried this carrier? Let us know in the comments! #babywearing #glasgowslinglibrary #30daysofcarriers #infantinocarrier

A post by @glasgowslinglibrary on TikTok caption: Happy Saturday! Today we have another Tula carrier - the Tula Lite! A great option if you like the Tula but want something more light and compact, especially good for travelling. It features a handy hip pouch that you can then pack the carrier into. It’s folds small and feels really light to wear. What do you think of this one? Pros: - Lightweight and compact - A good option for using with another carrier to tandem carrier (thanks to no padding in straps) - Great big hip pocket on waist band that you can use for storage while carrier is in use or the carrier can be folded in on itself to be nice and compact Cons: - No ability to adjust the panel height or width - Lack of any shoulder padding - No head/neck support (recommend from 4 months +) #babywearing #glasgowslinglibrary #30daysofcarriers #tula #tulacarriers #tulalite
