About a year and half ago, I told my aunt I was feeling "called/pulled" to be in Bali, but I wasn't sure for what or when. I told her I just knew I needed to get there. This beautiful soul on Tic Tok posted about a women's retreat she was holding in Bali. When I saw this, I KNEW this was why I felt the pull. I booked my flights and was ready for whatever was coming my way. Little did I know the first 2 - 4 days were going to be the MOST challenging I've ever encountered. The island being a spiritual one does one of two things upon your arrival. It welcomes you to the island and you have an amazing experience OR......it brings up triggers you need to work through to help you to get to a higher vibration of yourself and into alignment. My first stay, visesau in Ubud. I was welcomed with a delicious drink. I was escorted to my room where I would reside for 2 nights and then head to my retreat. Most of the resorts have outdoor bathrooms and living areas except for the bedroom. My bedroom was the only room completely enclosed from the outdoors. The bed encapsulated w/mosquito netting. The first night I was EXHAUSTED. I got myself situated in my room & under the netting ready to go to sleep when I started hearing chirping noises. What I didn't know or expect were the geckos living in my room on the walls & ceiling. They chirp all night long. Apparently, the geckos eat the mosquitoes, so they don't remove them from the rooms. As they were chirping, another sound could be heard which was scratching at the roof which carried on until sunrise. I couldn't go to sleep for fear of what was trying to get in. I got up early made my way to breakfast. The food is fresh. The fruit juices, smoothies are also fresh & there are NO chemicals in any of the food. After eating I found out there was a shuttle headed to Ubud City Center and Market. I was conflicted about going. Normally, when I'm that conflicted, I wouldn't have gone but I felt compelled to go because I was in Bali and wanted to make the most of the trip. Ubud City Center and Market is amazing. There are NO traffic lights, the traffic has this beautiful harmonious flow to it and it works. What is interesting is the hazard lights in the cars there are turned on when coming to an intersection to let traffic know they are going straight. They use their horns to let scooters and other vehicles know they are there and getting ready to pass them. The police are there in heavy traffic times just come out to help with traffic. As I walked the endless streets and navigated the traffic and people, I realized it was too much and I needed to head back to the pick-up location. I sat and watched people for almost 2 hours waiting for the shuttle. I would have called the hotel, but my phone wasn’t working even with the international calling plan. Once I got back to the resort I went straight to my room to nap while the sun was up as it seemed to be the ONLY time the geckos didn't make noise. Night two didn't disappoint as the island wasn't done with me yet. As I layed in bed connected to WIFI I surfed the internet all night long. As I laid in bed the scratching at the roof started ALL over again. I just listened & waited for whatever it was to finally break into my room. About 3AM it finallly happened the creature came barreling into the room & started running the rafters. Since I had the lights on at the rafters, I was HORRIFIED at the sight I was seeing. A RAT!!! A SMALL SIZED DOG RAT broke into my room & was living his BEST life. I couldn't take another night like this. I packed my bags, took a shower and waited for breakfast so I could get out of my room and check out. Next stop, the retreat.....more to come….
