Pie 🤝 cake Instead of pie cupcakes this year, I decided to make a pie cake! 🥧🍰 It turned out so cute and tasted delicious! It’s an 8 inch @bettycrocker spice cake with pumpkin spice cream cheese buttercream as the orange “pumpkin” on top. Then the “crust” is regular vanilla buttercream because it is more stable to pipe with. I mixed orange and brown gel color to make the pumpkin, and yellow and brown to make the crust color. Finished with a light dusting of cinnamon on top 🤌🏼 Piping tips: - crust: @wiltoncakes 125 - whipped cream: ateco 847 RECIPE - Pumpkin spice cream cheese buttercream: - 1 8oz block of @phillycreamchs cream cheese (softened) - 1/2 cup of unsalted butter (room temp) - 400g confectioner’s sugar (roughly 3.5 cups) - 1 tsp vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp @mccormickspice pumpkin pie spice - pinch of salt ^ In a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, mix the cream cheese and butter together for 1 minute. Then add the rest of the ingredients and mix on low until everything is incorporated, then increase to medium speed for 2 minutes. RECIPE - Vanilla buttercream: - 1 cup butter, room temp - 480g confectioners sugar (4-4.5 cups) - 2 tbsp heavy cream - 1 tsp vanilla extract - pinch of salt ^ In a stand mixer with paddle attachment, mix butter on its own for 2 minutes until it gets pale in color. Then add everything else in and mix for another 2-3 mins. 🧡🧡🧡 • • •
