My turn to speak up!! See here written a shorter summary (cause wordcount) and also reminder that I am not going to target specific people, only the concept of fanfilms and holding creators to different standards in and on itself. - I will not speak much for the AI situation other than that I hope this is a big reminder to everyone out there to NOT use AI for art. Many artist have spoken up against it. It is damaging and ruins peoples creativity and their livelyhoods. As far as blaming the cast goes, I have no idea who knew what. However even if they were victims in the AI and money problems, which i'm fully willing to believe, they are not completely without fault. Some of the cast were fully aware of the extremely problematic behaviour of the director when joining this project. The promotion and d0nation process was also faulty and problematic. Let's hold our fav creators to the same high standards we hold everyone. Respect, safety and security. ๐ Fans that are relatively new and don't know what happened, I understand thats not your fault but please take this oppertunity to look into it and be carefull of what you support. There is always time to learn. I learned, grew and realised shortcomings for myself over the past years. Inform yourselves! :) I mostly want to speak out against big fanfilms in general. I openly have disliked these big projects that require so much funding or work with problematic people but now a proper vid. I love the creativity that goes behind projects that are fanmade. The authenticity, the genuine joy people have in creating and the amazing work it gives. The way we as a fandom have rallied against the h@te of JKR warms my heart. Aside from fanfilms legally being bound to rules (like being non profit), in my opinion both ethically and morally there is no place for these types of high fundraisings and d0nationgoals that projects keep having. It is FANmade, it is not supposed to be high tech professional. Not only does that legally tiptoe around what is allowed, to me it takes away everything a fanproject should be. Free, creative, open and supportive of the fandom. Getting help from the community is wonderful, I love people coming together like that. However, asking for thousands upon thousands (literally SO MUCH money) to me is not ever okay. Not to even get me started on how immorally this moneyraising has sometimes been, the way how too often no one truly knows what the money is going to exactly and how people are paying for an endresult that more often than not fails to get presented to them the way it has been promoted. No casual, non profit, fanmade project needs this kind of money. โจ๏ธBring back phone-shot backyard films, please!โจ As a fandom (and especially those of us making fanprojects), I think we should reflect on what we're actually asking for, what we want to achieve, support, represent, create and especially whether something is reasonable. Let's protect this community. Also aside from this please lets be realistic, that money could do so much good in this world that really needs it. Not trying to pressure anyone to d0nate to something they can't or simply don't want to. I am just trying to baseline that thousands on a fanfilm should not be the priority right now. A very long message with hopefully some clear thoughts! Feel free to share or ask things in the comments, Ill answer where I can. Keep it kind and productive. Reminder to keep spreading awareness for ๐, keep reposting, commenting and using the audios even on private. They still need our help more than ever. Specifying that I am solely talking about fanfilms in this. I fully support medical or personal gofundme's that are completely open about where the money is going, that's vastly different. Already stated but extra reminder to not support JKR including her new projects coming. Instead, keep writing your amazing fanfics, keep making your lovely (free) projects and keep spreading love, happiness and inclusion.โค๏ธโค๏ธ
