Mary, Secret, & Promise

Anyone else getting excited for Halloween?🎃 I don’t usually repost videos, but this might be my favorite video with Promise ever 🥹❤️ Can’t wait for trick or treat again this year!👻

Now two of my most treasured possessions❤️ Painting together with Promise for the first time was very emotional for me. Secret and I used to paint together all the time, and I kept seeing her in Promise. The way she got mad when she couldn’t get her canvas to sit right, the way she watched me paint, the way she looked back to as if to say “how was that?” The way she finished first and took a nap against me while she waited for me to finish too. Promise is only just beginning to expand from abstract strokes and learning to draw intentional angles and shapes, but I’m already amazed by how far she’s come at just 2 years old when this was something Secret only really began much later in her life. Promise and Secret are so different, she is in every way her own soul and I never want to make the mistake of forgetting that. But sometimes I swear I look into her eyes and see Secret looking back, as if she lives somewhere deep within her and comes out only for a moment to visit and remind me that she’s here.
