[BBC News] The American Airlines flight was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members when it collided with a Black Hawk helicopter as it approached Ronald Reagan National Airport. Three soldiers were in the helicopter During a briefing on Thursday morning, officials confirmed that 27 bodies had been recovered from the plane, along with one from the helicopter. Search teams continue to scour the river, supported by law enforcement helicopters. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says the body of the plane has been found in three different sections of the river, in waist-deep water. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the incident occurred around 9 p.m. EST when the jet, which had departed from Wichita, Kansas, collided with a Blackhawk helicopter on a training flight.
