Two years ago, I was working at a gas station. My boss, paying me $11/hour, constantly criticized me for my inability to follow commands, and one text he sent, sent me spiraling. That moment made me reevaluate my entire life. I channeled all that frustration into this song, which started as a ‘screw you’ to my boss but grew into something deeper. By the second verse, the boss became a metaphor for corporate control, and in the third, I confronted the real boss: the government. Or maybe I’m just losing it. Either way, this song was born. Last year, my mom sent me a voice message that became the muse for this song. 2024 was one of the hardest years of my life. I lost almost everything a man could lose—except my soul. As the eldest son, I felt the weight of holding it all together, consoling my mom from thousands of miles away, telling her, “Everything will be all right.” But those words felt hollow because I wasn’t backing them up with action. The more I struggled, the more I realized how much my mom was suffering too. One day, I sent her a text saying the same empty words, and in return, she sent me a voice message that changed everything—my perspective, my priorities, and my artistic journey. That moment birthed this song and, ultimately, this album. It’s one of the most important tracks I’ve ever created. I hope some of you can relate to the story behind it.
