Well that makes 10 years. 🎢 Quit my job in accounting and started in solar. Although the golden age of solar is over, door to door sales is dead, and massive power bill savings isn’t possible anymore for 90% of the market. The technology has been pushed to its limits and we have some of the craziest microgrid products being dropped on the market. I truly believe off grid needed grid tied to push the technology to innovate. Thank you to everyone that’s works day in and day out to make this industry better. Good people and technology advancement will push this industry on. Can’t wait to see what the solar coaster brings this year.

Ever had a snow avalanche come off your solar panels? Customer showed me a video of his ring doorbell that was absolutely wild. Yes I know it’s a retrofit. Yes I know there could be some potential issues with shading and Snow load. And yes, I know you’re not supposed to walk on solar panels…… but there’s definitely an issue with 2000 pounds of snow sliding off your roof at one time.

Anything I’m missing? 15 mm socket 13 mm socket 10 mm socket 9/16 socket 1/2 socket 7/16 socket 5mm Allen 6mm Allen I think this covers all the hardware I deal with in my market. Maybe torques? I don’t usually use nut drivers because it seems like you need a deep socket for a lot of the nuts on bolts. The best thing that ever happened to solar attachments was the “single tool” push. On this job I have a 1/2 lag screw with a 15 mm t bolt with 6mm Allen for optimizers and mid clamps with a 1/2 tbolt on grounding lugs and a 7/16 lug screw.

How do you find rafters? Well you technically only have to find a rafter… then the rest are just there.

Buy cheap used solar panels? (Part 1) one of the questions I get most often is about purchasing used solar panels for cheap. Because I do all these removals. If you just get on FB marketplace or your local classified, they'll be a ton of different options for buying used panels and some tips on buying them.

Following up with my last post about the “Snow Dogs” from Apline Snow Guards, they also make a bar for the bottom of the solar panel system that attaches directly to the frames of the panels. I have a full install video showing off this product.
