Meet Hope ❤️ we got her due to “chicken math” 🤣🫣 she was a little over a week old when we got her, at first we didnt notice her toes, that would take a couple days 😢 my sister who has raised and hatched chicks for the last few years said she had 2 like that from the stores she had to put down as they couldnt get around very well as they got bigger😞 with having littles i didnt want to just give up. I want to teach them, theres always “hope”. So i got on this platform and started searching. Finding just a couple videos about using bandaids on 🐥 chicks toes that were just a couple days old and it only taking 2 days….that was not the case for us, this journey was just shy of 2 wks. I started with large bandaids at first, cutting the ends off and sandwhiching her foot inbetween them being very careful as to make sure her toes were how they should be. After 2 days with little improvement and noticing her ankles still bowing I took to the straw, i used a rubber straw as not to cut into her legs, it would support her ankle but still bend a little. I notched out the parts that didnt need to be there and taped with medical tape. This set stayed on for 2 days; little improvement. We replaced her casts and changed up the foot brace a bit by adding cardboard to the bottoms of her feet and taping her foot to that; she took them off by herself after just 1 day; i decided the 4th set would stay on for 5 days before i removed them 🤪 much to my suprise when we removed the casts we had FINALLY gotten somewhere ❤️ Hopes 1 “ankle” was still twisted in 😢 so i cut a new straw and made her like a ballerina on that one foot, taking care to not mess with the toes that were now way better or her back toe. Deciding to only leave this one for 2 days before removing to see if there was any improvement and BOOM its straight ❤️ her legs and toes are far from looking like her cage mates BUT she should not have any issues baring weight on them now ❤️ she went from a low waddle on the ground, to day 4 of pushing her way to the food, to standing tall. What an adventure this has been, note i am not a vet, just sharing our journey
