A post by @werner_bronkhorst on TikTok caption: ‘Overseas’ You won’t believe it but this artwork used to be green. It was meant to be part of my Forbidden Grass collection but the paint was so heavy, it started dripping off the canvas overnight! Unsure of how to proceed with half of the paint on the floor, I simply left it untouched in the studio for months and finally an idea popped up- to create a scene where a seaplane is taking off on a blue canvas where one half is water and the other half is sky. It’s a cheeky introduction to an upcoming collection but still relevant to WET which I’m exhibiting very soon here in Sydney! ‘Overseas’ 163 x 123cm Acrylic gel on canvas Artworks and printed editions will be released early next month. Feel free to join my mailing list for official updates 💙 #wernerbronkhorst #wet #overseas

A post by @werner_bronkhorst on TikTok caption: This was only the experiment for a much larger artwork I named ‘Big Blue’. So I named this one ‘Small Blue’. There’s something about the juxtaposition of colour, the gentle horizontal curve and the off centre position of the sailboat that intrigues me. There’s movement but slow and zen-like. It’s calming but also vibrant. Seeing this small canvas hung on a large wall is simply amazing and I’ve really enjoyed having it in my lab the past few months. ‘Small Blue’ 31 x 41cm Acrylic gel on canvas Artworks and printed editions will be released early next month. A post by @werner_bronkhorst on TikTok caption: While I’m finishing up the last few artworks in my WET collection, I thought I’d share a special piece I made late last year. It was based on an idea I had in my sketchbook for ages and finally I had the excuse of using all of the paint I had left over from my Forbidden Grass collection to mix onto this canvas. The idea was to play with the word ‘Masterpiece’ but give it a golfing twist based on @themasters In this artwork you can see the same golfer and his caddy in four different scenes, putting, chipping, driving and walking. This was completely new to me as I usually paint a single scene or moment but this time I wanted the artwork to tell its own story. ‘Masters Piece’ 153 x 183cm Acrylic on canvas This artwork was sold last year. To find out more about my work and when artworks are released, please join my mailing list via my website. ⛳️ #wernerbronkhorst #masterspiece

A post by @werner_bronkhorst on TikTok caption: ‘Big Blue’ was an experimental piece made before I painted ‘Baby Blue’. I wanted to see what effect scale would have on the same painting. Would this saturated blue look darker and more intense when it’s big ? Would it still be a punchy colour on a small canvas? This is the second largest artwork I made in this collection but I must say, it feels like the biggest due to its deep colour. I feel a sense of zen inside a storm. The wind is blowing hard, the waves are big and yet you’ve still got it all under control. On the one hand I know I’ll miss this artwork but I am also excited to see where it will end up in the world when it eventually gets shipped off overseas. ‘Big Blue’ Acrylic gel and acrylic on canvas 144.5 x 185.5 cm Framed in white coated timber Certificate of authenticity included with complementary worldwide shipping through DHL in April. Import taxes and duties included. PayPal and all major credit cards are accepted on the day of its online release via my website wernerbronkhorst.com #bigblue #wet #wernerbronkhorst

A post by @werner_bronkhorst on TikTok caption: That’s life 🏄🏽‍♂️🏄🏾‍♀️🏄🏼 ‘Blue Water High’ was a fun piece to create. My idea was to remaster ‘Swell Day’ which I made two years ago. This time, however I blended a couple of blue tones on the canvas using my mega brush, which created the perfect backdrop to paint more than 13 surfers of all kinds and colours. The original artwork is not for sale but there will be 69 limited edition prints available. More info on my website 🙋🏼‍♂️ #bluewaterhigh #wernerbronkhorst #wet

A post by @werner_bronkhorst on TikTok caption: You probably won’t believe me if I told you that these are in fact printed editions of my original artworks. They’re just so good that it looks like the real thing. After I complete an artwork, I hand it over to my friends over at @standishandco who scan these works using some very expensive high end cameras that hover over each artwork for hours on end, picking up details not even I can see. These digital files are then handed over to my printing partners @leftbankartgroup in Brisbane. They print each of the 69 editions on canvas using the highest grade inks to ensure the colours and textures of each artwork are replicated perfectly. Each print then gets stretched before being framed using Tasmanian Oak that is stained in white to look exactly like the original artworks. That’s not all. I approve each print individually before signing each of the 69 copies by hand. There is no doubt that these prints are made with love, care and attention to detail just like every artwork I make in my studio in Sydney. Only 69 editions will be made of each of these which gives you the opportunity to own a replica of an artwork that otherwise will never be for sale. May the fastest fingers win when I release these online next week Monday, 10 February at 7am AEDT. Please confirm what time that will be in your city or consider joining my email list via my website. Much love Werner! #ridemecrazy #stayinyourlane #slipperywhenwet #wet #wernerbronkhorst

A post by @werner_bronkhorst on TikTok caption: Now that I’ve completed all 38 artworks for my WET collection, I can start working on my retrospective exhibition in Korea. These Forbidden Grass artworks have been stored in these art cases for six months and today I’m finally unpacking them. I was slightly nervous to open these cases I made but I guess my carpentry apprenticeship paid off. More information about the retrospective exhibition will be posted after the release of WET in three weeks.
