February 11, 2021 is a day I’ll never forget. My Dad, who is my biggest supporter and cheerleader, fell during one of my classes in a friendly competition with me. He hit his head so severely it caused a traumatic brain injury. I don’t think I’ve ever been more terrified in my entire life. The way he fell and his body seized up and stiffened, will forever burned into my mind. I thought he died. It was so traumatic, that it took me this long to be able to share the video of the accident. 🚨I do so (with my Dad’s consent) to help spread awareness about gym safety. Injuries like this (including my finger injury) can be PREVENTED by merely being AWARE! ✅ Be aware of your surroundings, your equipment and the people around you. Clip your squats. Don’t throw your weights down when there are people in close proximity, or let your stability ball, dumbbells, foam roller etc. roll away from you. ⚠️DON’T LET YOUR NEGLIGENCE RESULT IN AN INJURY FOR SOMEONE ELSE⚠️ While my dad is a fighter and has more grit in his little pinky than most people have in their whole being…this injury rocked his world and affected his vision, hearing, sense of taste and smell, personality & motor skills among many other things. It’s taken him years to recover and certain things are still a challenge- but he doesn’t let it stop him! 💪🏻 👊🏻 While accidents happen, a little awareness can go a long way. ❤️ . . . .
