JUSTICE FOR BLUE! ANIMAL ADVOCATES GET THE JOB DONE! FOR NOW. Earlier this week, we told you the story of "Blue," a beautiful pittie in Bryan, Texas. A neighbor documented Blue's miserable existence for nearly his entire life. We posted the video after getting the runaround from the animal control officer who was more concerned that I had her cell phone and the fact that she was at lunch... than the case of Blue outside freezing in the wintry weather. That night, Blue spent the night inside for the first time in a long time. Then yesterday, the city made a post that "we are all on the same page when it comes to animal welfare and we want to reassure you that we are not turning a blind eye to this situation or any other animal issue." This, of course, comes after they have visited this man and Blue 13 times because they believe in education and not citations. 13 times? There's documented evidence you could use as evidence to give poor Blue to a loving home where a person doesn't have to be taught AT ALL how to treat a dog, also known as their 4-legged family member.\ The City's attempt to spin the narrative here once we released the video was painful to read and see. Bottom line? Animal advocates were responsible for Blue having his first night in the house. Also? Yesterday, Blue spent hours outside tethered with no continuous food, water or shelter. If you head over there now, you'll find him in the same condition. The video taken from this afternoon is included in this video. I invite you, once again, City of Bryan and animal control to have a thoughtful discussion on why animal control nearly failed Blue and that, sadly, could be an unfortunate reality if you keep on having to give the owner lessons. I'm told the city has threatened the reporting party that they could be brought up on criminal charges for posting the videos of Blue. WRONG! Officials also released the name of the reporting party to the owner and that action alone could have put the reporting party in danger and they have since put up surveillance cameras not just for their safety but also for their dogs. WRONG. Blue's owner has also put up a surveillance camera. People are also recounting all of their interactions with animal control and the consensus I've read says animal control needs to be overhauled and ACO's need to remember, they're there for the animal and NOT the human. Also - remember the seat belt that the City said was a combination of a tether and Blue's leash? LIE. NOT THE CASE. You can see it clearly in the picture.
