Usually I’m RELIEVED when frogs survive the firing 😡 . It was time for a new look! @☆ Mari Melody ☆ inspired me to get colorful in her Hair Dye Shirt! So I dyed my hair to match my pottery studio: Purple, Pink, and Yellow with @Arctic Fox ! But I had to show off Strawbastian & Hershel post-firing. Fingers crossed for that delicate icing drizzle! There’s something deeply satisfying about treating clay like frosting. 🍰 When I was a teenager I very much wanted to become a cake decorator. It became a hyper fixation of mine and I binge watched all of the cake shows on food network. I started baking a lot and made tons of yummy treats, but I never really got around to the decorating part! My Mom, who has always been the first to support a new interest of mine, bought me a cake decorating kit. Annnnnnnd I used it like, three times. HOWEVER— as I’ve been experimenting with icing tools and clay, I am reminded of those passions I had when I was younger. And how my Mom (the artist!!) has always been the one to encourage and inspire me to create art. (Plus, I still had the decorating kit ready to go when I started experimenting with piping ceramics!) Thank you Mom, and happy Valentine’s Day. I think he will really make sense once he’s been painted with underglaze! How to Color your Pottery Glaze with Math 🧮 . I have a fun idea for the strawberry sauce on my most recent frog sculpture, and it includes red tinted clear glaze. But I needed to make it first! Here’s how I made 5 test glaze samples with varying levels of mason stain.
