This dazzling evening brought together Afghan Americans, Iranian Americans, Pakistani Americans, Tajikistani Americans, and Uzbekistani Americans from Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. The event celebrated the longest night of the year, highlighting the region’s rich cultural heritage and promoting unity through music, poetry, and art. Opening Remarks: The festival began with a warm welcome from Mr. Azim Ulfati, who emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage, especially in the context of Afghanistan, where music and art have been suppressed. He stated, “Music and culture are not dead. Tonight, we celebrate our heritage and remain steadfast in our commitment to preserving it with your support.” Mr. Ulfati also expressed his gratitude to the staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the event a success. Program Highlights The evening commenced with a speech by a distinguished Iranian American scholar who eloquently discussed the historical and cultural significance of Yalda Night. The event featured mesmerizing musical performances, including a soulful robab recital by Ibrahim Kochai and an enchanting tabla duet by Mateen Akrami, creating an atmosphere of beauty and serenity. Jogi Wara, a talented Afghan American artist, performed two heartfelt songs that deeply moved the audience. The renowned artist and versatile movie star Aryan Khan then energized the crowd with a vibrant series of multilingual songs, captivating everyone with his dynamic stage presence.
