I took traditional photos as a Queen Mother, dressed in rich, vibrant kente cloth and adorned in layers of gold that symbolize wealth, royalty, and divine power. This wasn’t just a photo session; it was an experience that connected me to centuries of heritage and tradition. #CapCut Makola Market Chronicles: Fabric, Focus, and 10 Pounds Later 🛍️☀️ Yesterday, I braved the iconic Makola Market in Accra to shop for fabrics for my next Aloha Glamour collection, and baby, it was a WHOLE experience. There’s something about Ghana that always recharges me and reminds me of my why. The colors, the energy, the culture—it’s like a reset button for my creativity. But let me tell you… that sun? 🔥 Whew, it was cooking! Add in the fast walking, the crowds, and me and my girl Gladys weaving through stalls like we were on a mission. I’m pretty sure we lost 10 pounds just from walking alone. 😂 Makola Market isn’t your regular shopping trip—it’s like every big mall you’ve ever been to but on steroids. Established in the 1920s, it’s been the heartbeat of commerce in Accra, full of energy, culture, and chaos in the best way. You can find everything there—fabrics, earrings, beads, bracelets, clothes, spices… I had to remind myself, “Sis, FOCUS!” I came for fabrics, not to bring the entire market back with me. By the time we wrapped up, I was drained but fulfilled. These fabrics are going to be something special, and I can’t wait to bring them to life. Shopping in Makola reminded me once again of the beauty in hard work, hustle, and heritage. Ghana stays giving me what I need, even when it takes all my energy in the process.
