The Black community in Tulsa, Oklahoma, holds a significant place in American history. In the early 20th century, Greenwood, a district in Tulsa, became known as ‘Black Wall Street,’ a thriving hub for Black-owned businesses and economic independence. Tragically, in 1921, the Tulsa Race Massacre devastated the area, leaving hundreds dead and the community in ruins. Despite this, the resilience of the Black community in Tulsa continues to inspire, as efforts to rebuild and preserve this legacy are ongoing today. Remembering Greenwood is a step toward acknowledging history and creating a more equitable future
