āWe get to bring home a baby with us.ā š„¹ After experiencing full-term stillbirth at 37 weeks pregnant and then being diagnosed with a brain tumor exactly 2 years later at 37 weeks pregnant in the same month, I had to be put under general anesthesia to have an urgent C-section. š I couldnāt do a vaginal birth like we had hoped bc there was risk of having a grand mal seizure which would have put both baby and me at huge risk. I couldnāt get an epidural because the tumor could have pulled my brain down and damaged my spine and could have caused paralysis and even death. š„ŗ We keep our genders a surprise, so they put a diaper on baby & Hubby got to meet and hold baby for 45 minutes or skin-to-skin time until I woke up & got wheeled in. š„¹ THIS IS THE MOST SPECIAL MOMENT OF MY LIFE. While Brain Surgery š§ is incredibly hard in itself, picking out your team is just so stressful. When you wheeled back into the OR (or like me walk and lay on the table as I wish my team good luck) you truly just have to let go and their life is in your hands. Having faith in your neurosurgeon is so important and Iāve been with one of mine for almost a decade and a half. People with NF2 always have to be prepared because there is no cure. In 2024 I had my gallbladder removed, found out I was almost cancer free, found a massive tumor embedded deep in my brain, had a craniotomy, 5 rounds of brain radiation, had a grand mal seizure as my plane was on the runway to take off, had a shunt placed, two spinal taps, multiple hospitalizations, colonoscopy, found out my cancer treatment was also attacking me, added another infusion to my treatmentā¦but!
