First, fat cell hyperplasia and hypertrophy both occur, whether you gain fat fast or slow. Letās get that straight. You canāt gain fat without stimulating those mechanisms. It just isnāt possible. You canāt grow muscle without muscle hypertrophy and you canāt grow fat without hyperplasia and hypertrophy of fat cells. Second, smaller fat cells tend to send signals to other fat cells and organs which propagate a healthy metabolism. Third, the effects of hyperplasia or hypertrophy of fat cells do not entirely go away and over time, may be associated with metabolic dysfunction. Finally, I realized Iām not petty enough to make a whole YouTube video calling out a bunch of biased individuals when I can make a short reel. I figured out how to word things a bit better so this video is mainly for Geoffrey Verity Shofield (couldnāt find his acc) who didnāt understand the study I cited and its context. That said, Iām not really big on making call outs so I didnāt directly call him out. Iād still like a discussion if possible, but since he thinks my take is āintellectually dishonestā Iām not expecting much. Moreover, comment down below if you want a follow up on why a caloric surplus and fat gain doesnāt promote additional or optimal muscle growth :)
