#stitch with @nokomisandpayton A lot of people are attacking this young lady for doing the right thing for her dog, so let’s break this down. Dalmatians should NOT be spayed or neutered before 18-24 months. Why? Because of their unique urinary system and development. Unlike most breeds, Dalmatians have a genetic predisposition to forming urate stones, meaning their urinary health is already delicate. Early spay/neuter disrupts hormone regulation, which affects muscle tone, bladder control, and urethral development—all of which increase the risk of lifelong urinary issues, including incontinence and blockages. And let’s talk about retrograde growth—when you remove hormones too early, their body doesn’t develop as it should. Instead of growing properly, the urethra stays underdeveloped, making stone expulsion and urinary complications way worse. This isn’t just a personal belief—it’s based on science and breed-specific health risks. Dalmatians need at least 18 months (females) and ideally 24 months (males) before spay/neuter. If you actually care about dogs, take the time to learn before attacking someone for making a responsible, informed decision. Facts over feelings. Always.
