When we shared our childhood experiences, people were shocked by the way we lived. We thought the punishments we received were normal for all children growing up. I don't remember much of our childhood; I thought it was just a part of growing up. But that's not true; it was our DID protecting us from the trauma. We would laugh at our pain and childhood experiences but people would look at us with horror thinking it wasn't a laughing matter and how can you be ok with what happened? We just didn't know. It was the norm for us to be punished and that we was “the problem child” Now that we look back we didn’t have a normal childhood at all and we have a lot of remorse of not having a childhood at all. We was treated like the devils daughter…. We honestly thought we was at one point in time and that’s why we thought we was getting punished.
