I am a child psychologist and I mostly work with parents of ADHD teens and kids. So it’s normal for the parents I’m working with to ask me, “Do you have kids too?” I don’t…and while I am not a parent myself, it is so important that I am able to share the knowledge and skills I gained during my PhD program. It took me six years of studying and learning how to best parent ADHD kids and teens, and now I get to share this information with parents I work with in Parenting ADHD Teens Academy. Of course being a parent brings so much helpful insight and knowledge about your ADHD child or teen. The thing that’s “missing” for parents who work with me is the science behind effective ADHD parenting and how to make the skills work for your ADHD family. #adhdparent #adhdparenting #adhdteen #parentingadhdteens #adhdtween #parentingadhdkids #adhdkids #adhdchild #adhdparentsupport #childpsychologist #childpsychologists
1. I didn’t accept my ADHD diagnosis for the longest time and felt a lot of shame and anxiety around telling people about my ADHD. 2. I used accommodations during my psychology licensing exam but second-guessed if I should even apply for them but the extra time made me feel way less stressed. 3. Even though I talk about how ADHD medication is a safe and effective treatment, I was really anxious about trying medication for the first time and how my body would react. 4. Grad school made me move around a lot while all of my friends were starting their jobs and families and I second guess myself a lot about the path I took. 5. The emotional regulation of ADHD is one of the hardest parts for me and I hate that I can be short and snappy with the people I care about most. It’s hard to be vulnerable even as a psychologist but if part of this resonates with you, let me know in the comments below🫶 #adhdgirl #adhdgirls #adhdwomen #childpsychology #childpsychologist #adhdwoman #adhdadult #adhdinwomen #adultadhd #therapytiktok #therapytok #privatepractice #privatepracticeedit #privatepracticetherapist

I always loved doing clinical work but it was hard for me to know the steps to take in private practice when it wasn’t often talked about in grad school. Going into private practice was the best decision I could make for myself to be able to see clients in a way that allows me to have flexibility in my life. And now I get to help other therapists and psychologists start their own private practices so they can have more freedom in their lives. #privatepractice #privatepracticeedit #phdstudent #phdpsychology #phdpsychologist #childpsychologist #privatepracticetherapist #privatepracticetherapists #therapytiktok #therapytok
