Let’s talk about it: 1. Not using proper measurements…not only will you not have any type of consistency with different batches, you also can’t scale up or down. You never know how much of each product is in your formula..it’s just not good. You have no control. 2. Not using preservatives…chile 🤦🏽♀️ I know preservative free might SOUND good, but it’s not. Not unless you like bacteria growing in your products. Bacteria is also not visible to the naked eye, so just b/c you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there. 3. pH testing is soooo important. Our skin & hair’s pH is slightly acidic between 4.5-5.5. All products need to be balanced to prevent irritation & also ensure that your preservative works properly. 4. Stability testing is so important, if you can, send it off to a lab to be tested, but I know that may not be an immediate option for some. But there are things you can do yourself like using a microbe testing kit & checking the pH regularly. I’m here to help anyone that wants to learn! Check out my beginner’s guide to formulating ebook. Another one will be coming soon!
