Want to start vending but dont know where to start? Heres some good tips I learned along the way 1. DONT be on your phone! You are there to form good relationships with potential clients. Being distracted on your phone isnt inviting & will enourage customers to walk past your booth. As im filming for this video, my phone is hidden from shoppers. They cant see me filming. When is a good time to be on your phone? While using the restroom. Other than that, give your full attention to the customer. 2. A genuine smile goes a long way. Not everyone wants to talk while they are enjoying the festivities & thats ok. Shoppers dont want to feel harassed or guilted to coming to your booth. A smile acknowledges their presence & they are more than likely to come back. This is my experience. In this video, you see me look up while polishing a ring. The lady I smiled at came back & asked what I was doing. I showed her the freshly polished rings & she bought 2 of them. 3. Your display has to be appealing. People shop with their eyes. It cant look bare or minimal. An Asthetically appealing set up will always draw people in. ALWAYS have a good amount of product to replenish what has sold. 4. Pay attention to every detail. From your displays, to your business cards, to how your prices are displayed, to the shopping bags. Make the entire experience a good one for the shoppers. 5. Know your product. I sell crystals & focus solely on the geology & locality of the crystals im selling. I cant tell you many kids have come up & said “where is this from” & continue quiz me with everything in their reach. Knowing the product locality & geology not only excites them, it shows the parents that i know what im talking about & they remember that. A good crystal shop will always be able to tell you this instantly. 6. Form good relationships with other vendors. Networking can be your best friend if you do it with a genuine heart. Helping eachother out is how we ALL win. It doesnt matter if its lending someone a stapler, a piece of tape, filming them for a promotional video or just buying from them. Supporting one another is the most impactful way of giving back to the community. When you shop with small businesses, 68% of that goes back to the community. When you shop corporate, only 5% goes back to the community. Thats the current statistics & it speaks volumes. 7. Have high quality product. This is from my personal experience. Having high quality product has allowed me to separate myself from other crystal shops in the state of Georgia. I believe this is one of the reasons why I won Best of Georgia 2024. People want high quality items. They want to feel good about their purchase. They want what no one else has. 8. Your attitude is everything. If youre frustrated, streesed, angry, the customer is going to feel that. People read & feel energy. Any negativity CANT be brought into your booth. Your want people to remember you. People will always remember how you treated them & always remember how you made them feel. Get grounded, so some breathwork & become your happy self. You have to love what you do. Thats all for now.
