I’ve noticed a common theme specifically with the higher stack plated trainers which is that many of them need 20-25 miles on them to really loosen up For the most part running shoes don’t need breaking in anymore because the materials are just different. The foams are softer, the uppers aren’t leather, etc. For some reason though when you throw a plate into a chunky stack then everything feels just a little stiff Im glad I’ve stuck it out in these through a few wears, let me be clear, it’s not that the first few wears were bad, it’s just that the shoe was stiffer than I would have liked. Today though they felt perfect for what I needed. That’s why I like to put 40-50 miles on a shoe before I do my final review, it’s not the first time my opinion has changed (for better or for worse) and it certainly won’t be my last #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #runningshoereviews #magicapeed4 #treadmillworkout #5ktraining
This is what a typical day looks like as a father of 3 who works in tech sales, trains 10-12 hrs a week, creates content, and run coaches! #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #5amrun #speedwork #thresholdrun #dayintheliferunner #winterrunninggear
I’m running out of days in 2024 to test running shoes but I think I have my top picks for 2024 ready to film now! Like most recaps people tend to release stuff in early to mid December but that leaves some late year releases in an awkward spot. This year I decided to hold off on making my decisions so I hope ya’ll enjoy the video! Excited to go into the weekend as well as I’m taking some time off next week to relax with the family. Should be a good time! #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #toprunningshoes2024 #bestrunningshoes #5ktraining
I’ve been doing a lot of solo miles as of late so it was great to meet up with a new friend! On top of that I’m buying ALLLL the hype with the Evo SL from Adidas. I bought these ones with my own money and I’m very glad I did because they are next level. Adidas is releasing banger after banger lately so I’m excited to see how the rest of the line up performs! #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #5ktraining #longrunworkout #adidasevosl runningshoereviews
Post Christmas hangover hit me hard this morning (copious amounts of food and lack of sleep since I don’t drink!) but sos#me how I managed to get myself out of bed to get my workout in 10 total miles for the day and about 6 miles of quality! The @adidasrunning pro 4 is something else. I LOVE the Evo 1 and I’d say this shoe is about 90% of that one but half the cost. It’s technically a 2025 release and I know it’s early but I have a feeling it’ll be finalist for supershoe of the year #runnerdad #runlifebalance #5ktraining #speedwork #treadmillworkout #dadsthatrun #runningshoereviews #adidaspro4

Felt pretty tired today so I opted to just run on my lunch break! Friday is a day I tend to relax a little more and just stick to one workout instead of 2 so it gives me a little more flexibility. Work tends to be a little slower as well so I’m not too worried about work emergencies but I still opt for the treadmill just in case. Ran in the Neo Zen which was sent to me from Mizuno. I’d been running in a half size smaller than my usually and honestly had zero complaints. With the normal size the shoe fits a lot more like the Neo Vista BUT I still feel like it’s a lot more locked in as I couldn’t quite find my ideal fit with the Vista. Whether it’s a 10 or 10.5 I absolutely love this shoe. It’s early in the year but I’m convinced it’ll be near the top of my rankings by the end as well. #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #5ktraining #easyrun #treadmillworkout #neozen
I had someone ask me about remote work recently as it’s one of the things I credit towards being able to be so consistent but it seems that something that doesn’t always come through is when I was getting up and what my mornings typically look like. Remote work definitely makes things easier as it reduces my commute to zero but I’d say the biggest thing it does is allow me to spend more time with family when I’d normally be in a car. I get to spend the morning with my son and take him to school, I get to walk out of my office as soon as my day wraps up and participate in homework, piano practice, making dinner, whatever it may be Training itself still happens at somewhat normal parent workout hours of 5-7am or during my hour lunch. What the remote work really does is give me a couple extra hours back each day not to workout, but to be present as a father which to me is number 1! #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #treadmillworkout #5to8runner #5amrun #easyrun
We’ve got a mountain of shoes we’re testing right now but hoping to get the full review for this one live next week! Feeling pretty tired this week and l needed some extra sleep this morning Blessed to work remote and have the home gym to be able to be flexible with my day to still fit it all in. Time for bed #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #treadmillrun #gelnimbus27 #asicsrunning
Shoes, family time & celebrations, work, and more. All great things but hard to fit it all in sometimes. Grateful to have the flexibility to find my balance. Some days are long, some days are tiring, at least they all end with the most important things in life #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #5ktraining #intervalworkout #runningshoereviews
Doing my best to fit it all in every day! Between coaching, content, training, family, and work, I never have a “perfectly balanced” day but it all gets done at some point! I’m fortunate to be able to work from home and have my garage gym so I can fit multiple workouts in and maximize the time I have with the family since I have no commute. Some days I wonder if I should own it all down but honestly I enjoy my routine. It keeps me sane and lets me chase my passions while providing for my family. Also I get to run in a lot of shoes so it’s hard to complain about that! #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #5amrunner #5ktraining #gelnimbus27
Still chasing that sub 3hr goal but we’re taking out each distance one by one! Going for a time trial next weekend so we’ll see where we land but my body definitely needs a reset #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #easyrun #5amrun #runningcoach
3 day weekend for MLK means extra time with family + time to prep for the week! As someone who typically runs in the dark all winter long it was really nice to get some sunlight today…especially because it was only 13 degrees 🥶 Looks like mornings might be single digits this week so I’ve got my fingers crossed it doesn’t snow on time trial day but we’ll see! #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #5amrun #winterrunninggear #easyrun #5ktraining
A few people have asked for a full breakdown of what a day might look for me as someone who is trying to train for performance (10-12hrs a week), support a family (40+ hrs a week), do content and coaching (no idea how many hours tbh), and still make sure I have time for the family. Well here it is! It’s not glamorous, today I barely got to spend time with my wife outside of our attempted conversations while our kids HAD to tell us about the CRAZIEST things that happened at school, etc. The reality of balance is that some days looks like this, non stop work of some sort, and other days I don’t do anything for content and my businesses but spend that time with my wife playing a game, watching a movie, going on a date! Balance is going to look a little different to each person and for me it looks different each day. There are days to grind, days to relax, and days of a little bit of both. So long as the people in my life feel that they are getting what they need from me, well the rest of it takes care of itself! #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #5ktraining #runningshoereviews #runningcontent #5kworkouts #speedworkout
Absolutely wild that I managed to grow a big enough online presence that something like a social media ban will actually have a somewhat significant impact on me. TikTok helped me stay afloat when I was unemployed for 6 months in 2023. TikTok helped me make connections with my local running store which was crucial in getting me started as a shoe reviewer. TikTok helped me stay focused and accountable to my training. I’m still blown away that nearly 110 THOUSAND people decided I was worthy of a follow. If the platform never comes back I’ll certainly miss it but I’m just getting started as a coach, athlete, and creator and I’m confident that ill find my community whatever platform we may be on. Grateful for an amazing journey over the last few years and pumped to continue moving forward one step at a time #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #runningcreator #winterrunning #5ktraining
First run of 2025! Just took it easy ish for about 6 miles rather than jumping right back into the training plan as I’m likely a little compromised post flu. Expecting to be right back at it come Monday! As far as goals for the year my goals are carrying over from last year! Hit the race equivalent of a 3hr marathon in the mile, 5k, 10k, then half! Then we go for the sub 3 marathon. I’m thinking of looking at a fall marathon this year, maybe I’ll do CIM? Lots of things to think about, lots of miles to run #runnerdad #runlifebalance #dadsthatrun #5ktraining #runningresolutions #treadmillworkout
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all got to spend some quality time with your families and that you took so time to really be in the moment and take it all in It’s easy to become over obsessed with the end result and forget to enjoy the journey! Whether it be with work, family, or running, I’m going to try to do my best to be present and recognize the good times before they’ve gone #runnerdad #runlifebalance #christmasrun #dadsthatrun #treadmillrun
It’s my time trial week so we’re likely not getting like 10 hours of training this week but here is an average day in my life! Typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays I hit some kind of speed session and then during lunch those days I’ll lift! This weekend we’re going to be time trialing my 5k though so we are going a little lighter overall My mid term goal on the 5k is to hit 18:40 but right now I’m not so confident I can do that. I’m feeling low 19s though and if the legs come around we’ll full send! #runnerdad #runlifebalance #5amrun #dadsthatrun #speedworkfor5k #5ktraining #coldruninggear
