In January 2021, Cashew and Oats were rescued from a small dairy farm in Vermont. Their fate was already sealed, like so many male calves in the dairy industry, they were deemed “useless” and destined to be killed shortly after birth. Male calves, are often discarded as waste by small farms or sent to veal production by larger operations. Female cows don’t have it better, enduring years of forced impregnation and separation from their babies, until their bodies are too exhausted to produce milk, typically around five years of age. Cashew and Oats are living proof of the precious lives lost because of the dairy industry. For every glass of milk, there’s a story of suffering. Choosing dairy-free alternatives not only spares lives like theirs but also helps break the cycle of exploitation. Ready to rethink dairy? 🤍🐄
