TNHT Staff: @therealmeche_ _______________________________ Neighbors, get into this! Drake is not done putting his foot on Universal Music Groupās neck! Just yesterday, we reported that the rapper withdrew his initial petition against UMG for allegedly inflating the numbers of Kendrick Lamarās āNot Like Usā to make the song seem bigger than what it was. Though it was not an official lawsuit, Drake still made some bold claims against the company. Well now, Drake is officially filing a real lawsuit against the label for defamation. Ā _____________________________ According to the recently filed lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Drake claims UMG, the label that both Drake and Kendrick are under, released āNot Like Usā knowing that the lyrics were allegedly derogatory and untrue. He says the song is filled with "inflammatory and shocking allegations"and it was a "gold mine" for UMG, which is why they went through with releasing it. Drake believes they did this to spite him and devalue him at the label, which would give UMG leeway to potentially offer him less money in their upcoming contract negotiations. _______________________________ In the lawsuit, Drake also claims to have evidence that UMG allegedly paid a third party to increase the songās streams by at least 30 million and allegedly used payola for at least one radio promoter. _______________________ Drake also claims that UMG helped Kendrick secure the Super Bowl Halftime show just so he could perform āNot Like Usā at āone of the most significant (and viewed) cultural events of the year". _________________ Drake makes it clear in the lawsuit that his issue isnāt directly with Kendrick, but UMG because they decided to āpublish, promote, exploit, and monetizeā the song which it knew contained false claims. __________________ Keep in mind Neighbors, this is an OFFICIAL lawsuit! Before this, it was just a petition to gather information. Drake only withdrew the petition yesterday to make room for this bombshell defamation lawsuit! Chileā¦ Thoughts?
