Still can’t believe I said that… I didn’t realize what I was saying 🙈😂 This is just the tip of the iceberg for the hundreds of details in this queue that reference either Haunted Mansion history or are subtle foreshadowing for what is to come. Quite a few teens found their thrill on Holiday Hill in Disneyland before the Matterhorn moved in… the hill was popular with couples looking for privacy because of its winding walking paths that were largely unsupervised/patrolled 🙈 Holiday Hill really was just the leftover dirt from digging out the moat for the castle that they threw some landscaping on. Walt in particular hated the tower on the top of the hill. which he dubbed an “eyesore”. Hanging the buckets from the mountain’s interior structure was the solution for eliminating the eyesore, though it did create the odd through way Disney called “Glacier Grotto”.
