I have read so many books and have seen so many TV shows and movies that grossly misrepresent what it is like to have full time household staff, at least in the modern age. People who moan that it’s so hard to find good help are actually the problem. Communication and respect are key… no need to exclaim, “Oh, we would all die without Maria’s help!” It’s also a little insulting… Just pay Maria properly, and be kind to her and treat her like a person and a valuable employee -that’s better.
