1) Your dog is not protecting you. Make no mistake, I’m sure there’s a dog out there that has protected a child at some point, and that might be the only exception which is still up for debate. . 2) Don’t be fooled by marketing when it comes to your training treat . 3) punishing a puppy is not gonna get you anywhere. So put in the work . #dog #dogtrainer #nycdogtraining #ethology #DogTraining #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainingadvice
I’m not an advocate for allowing a dog to meet other dogs on a walk. Mainly because I don’t know the other dog and that could be a major gamble. . If Saga sees a dog, she knows on a walk. I’ll be more than happy to allow them to get a good sniff and spin. But I also have a relationship with my dog where it’s not gonna be an issue if I don’t want her to do that. . If you do not allow your dog to perform behaviors, it loves to perform while you’re on a walk then you very likely will not be meeting your dogs needs, and that will result in reactivity and frustration. . If your Dog Trainer and you disagree with what I’m saying then I will be more than happy to do a live with you to discuss this subject. . #DogTraining #nycdogtrainer #dog #nycdogtraining #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainingadvice #ethology #dogs
It’s too often that I hear people say positive reinforcement did not work so we must use punishment. . I am not saying that there is no time in place for punishment, but I am saying is that changing behavior is much more than reinforcing and punishing. . I focus on changing a dog‘s behavior by making them feel better. That doesn’t mean I’m telling anybody else their methods are wrong. But I guarantee you didn’t think someone could stop aggressive behavior with massage..(which I do all the time) . Disclaimer: do not attempt these techniques if you do not know what you’re doing. You can easily make things worse. . #do#dogo#dogtrainery#nycdogtrainingt#ethologyo#dogtrainingtipso#DogTrainingo#dogtrainingadviceo#dogsr#greatdane
Giving a dog, a massage on the vagus nerve to activate the parasympathetic system and help them relax it just one simple way to decrease behavior in the moment . . When it comes to changing your dogs behavior by making them happen, it is not a one-size-fits-all strategy. . If you are a pet owner or a dog trainer, this is something that you are interested in feel free to contact me and I will send you details of options for you to learn more. . #dog #dogtrainer #nycdogtraining #ethology #dogtrainingtips #DogTraining #dogtrainingadvice #dogmassage #happydog #reactivedog
It’s really important to understand that nutrition will have an impact on your dogs behavior in One Direction or another so it’s better to optimize it. . Many studies have been done on tryptophan were some say it will calm your dog and others say it won’t. I would absolutely speak to a Pet nutritionist because the amount that your dog gets balanced with other foods is what is going to create the most impact. . Omega-3’s reduce aggression . Blueberries reduce stress . Pumpkin helps with digestion, which will help everything . I personally feed my dog @darwinspetfood and it pretty much hits almost all the points . Last but not least people get tired of Thanksgiving because they overheat. It’s not because of the turkey. . If you’re interested in a pet nutritionist, you could private message me and I will send one your way . #dog #dogtrainer #nycdogtraining #ethology #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainingadvice #nycdogtrainer
Replying to @pitasmith I will never shame a tool because I know there’s so many people out there that actually need it. . Some dogs will benefit from having an owner, using a prong collar on them and others not so much. Everything is case by case, but most importantly, we should look at the dog first before making judgment. . #dog #dogtrainer #nycdogtraining #ethology #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainingadvice #dogtrainingadvice #DogTraining
