anddd today on my top 10 fashion designer tips, a rant on dress forms! Professional dress forms are definitely expensive and are hard to justify when there are much cheaper options - in my many years of experience, the professional ones really are worth it and ultimately skipping the cheaper ones will save you from buying BOTH. I would genuinely go with the DIY method over the adjustable/styrofoam ones if you’re looking for a cheap starting point - it’s pretty much just as effective if you do it well and then you can save for a high quality one! In NYC, there are a few shops in the garment district that sell the forms in person - SIL thread and Panda are my picks. Online, i’d head to Fabulous Fit or mannequinmall - they have tons of options for different sizes, body types, and padding. don’t miss the rest of this series - see you tomorrow! #fashiondesignertips #fashiondressform #buyingdressform #dressformtips #FashionAdvice
part2??? i have literally so many more - when you work in a field that requires material purchases, things definitely add up quickly. I am a saver at my core and i’ve developed lots of ways to save on waste - both financially and materially! do you have anything to add to this list? lmk in the comments! it’s such a balance to do what you love while also minimizing your impact on your wallet (and the environment) but these are some of the top ways i’ve found that help me save long term. #budgeting #2025budget #expenseplanning #budgetsystem #fashiondesigner #fashiondesignertips
