Hi! I'm Jennifer, a single mom in Mitchel County North Carolina and we are needing help with my son's medical bills from September 27th and the household bills. We went from 3 incomes to 1.5. It's just me, my sons, and Jennesis. I've never had to ask for help for anything. I'm a corrections nurse for the state. On the morning of the 27th, Devon, my oldest son, had a seizure and was status epileptics for over an hour. I had called 911 and it went to Yancey County and ended up cutting out. I didn’t know if anyone was coming or not. Then I see a paramedic hiking in. He was in his personal vehicle and had cut his way in. Praise God he had airway equipment and IV fluids. It took another hour to cut enough trees to get the ambulance to the top of our road. I have no idea how many firefighters came into the house and carried Devon outside. We then loaded Devon into the back of his brother's truck and drove him as far as we could to the huge downed tree. Then all the firefighters carried Devon to the Mitchell Medics ambulance. We made it to BRRH, still status epileptics, where Devon was RSId and put on a ventilator. The CT scan showed a brain bleed or tumor. He was accepted at Mission in Asheville before all communications were lost. And then we waited, and waited, and waited. I sat and prayed because that’s all I could do. Finally, early Sunday morning, we made it to Asheville. They were still unable to do an MRI or EEG due to all of the networks being down. Finally, when they were able to perform the MRI, nothing was there, no bleed or tumor. PRAISE GOD!!! Devon was in NTICU for 7 days. He is home and doing well. He is unable to drive for now and no longer has the job he had before the storm. We are behind on everything, and the medical bills are just now starting to come in. Any help would be much appreciated. Funds will be used to pay household and medical bills/expenses. #weregonnamakeitthrough #helene #wnc #gofundme #linkinbio #firstrescue #mitchellcounty #pleaseshare @Justin Danger Nunley @Papaof3boys🧡🖤🧡🖤 @TheSaltyParamedic
