There’s this place called Bixby Joe’s on Berlin Hall Drive and Atlantic in Long Beach that I frequently visit. I usually go there to get coffee and use my laptop. Now, I’ve already explained the situation I faced at Starbucks with some racist employees, but what I really want to point out is how all these people seem connected. There’s even a website where they’ve allegedly put my picture. Here’s the incident: I’ve been going to Bixby Joe’s daily, interacting with them like everything is fine. But in reality, they are some of the most two-faced people I’ve ever met. They pretend to be friendly toward Black people, yet they look for any excuse to ban us from their establishments. I’ve been documenting this behavior. On this particular day, I informed one of the employees that I was going to the store and that my belongings were plugged in, as usual. He said, “Okay.” At no point did he tell me the store was about to close or that I should take my things with me. Now imagine this: you step out briefly, and when you return, your bag—with your laptop and phones—is spread out on the sidewalk. Worse, your brand-new Samsung Galaxy S24, a phone you haven’t even set up yet, is gone. The only reason they didn’t take my iPhone was because I had already locked it. I hadn’t had the chance to secure the other phone yet. In the video, the guy claimed someone told him the store was closing, but he never communicated that to me. He didn’t say, “Hey, we’re about to close; you might want to take your belongings.” None of that. I honestly believe they are trying to push me to snap. Who wouldn’t be furious if their brand-new phone was stolen and then they got banned from the place? I’m trying to keep my composure by sharing this through my content instead of reacting in a way I might regret.
