6. Tortoises are NOT easy pets — they live a very long time and grow into giants. They are very prone to illnesses and bone disease if their very specific needs are not met. Their care requires a vast amount of knowledge and research as there is a lot of misinformation on Google. If you’d like to get a pet tortoise I recommend: 1. Research different species, how long they live, how large they grow, whether they need to hibernate or not and decide what would be a good fit. They do not do well in small homes with no yards. 2. Join a Facebook group on the species you’d like to get and ask questions. 3. Watch YouTube care videos on the type of tortoise species you’d like to get. Please do all of this BEFORE getting a tortoise. If you do not want to do this then you don’t actually want a tortoise… you just think they are cute and that’s okay. 🫶 Thanks for coming to my ted talk. 😊 . . . . #tortoise #funfacts #PetsOfTikTok

The Beverage That Gave Us Color Printing #funfacts #history #color #foodies #inventions The reason we can print in color today traces back to an unexpected source: beer, and a man named Joseph Lovibond. Lovibond, a 19th-century London brewmaster, was obsessed with quality and consistency. For him, a perfect pint of beer wasn’t just about taste—it had to look right too. But judging beer color by eye proved unreliable; human perception was subjective, and lighting conditions varied. One day, while admiring the stained glass windows of a cathedral, Lovibond had a flash of inspiration. He realized that by layering thin sheets of colored glass, he could precisely match the color of his beer. Building on this idea, he invented the tintometer, a device that used glass slides in standardized shades of cyan, yellow, and magenta to measure color with remarkable accuracy. Lovibond’s tintometer revolutionized the brewing industry, setting a new standard for color consistency. But his innovation didn’t stop there. The principles behind his device were eventually adopted in color printing, where layering cyan, magenta, and yellow inks became the foundation for reproducing vibrant images.

On a Thursday in 2010, we slipped into our monochromatic neons, ventured to a local park, and tried to manipulate the very fabric of time. We couldn’t quite sort out the whole general relativity thing, so we instead opted for a 21-hour interpretive dance and a series of high-speed cameras with hot-swappable data cards. (Good enough.) The fastest we recorded was 172,800x, condensing a full day into one half-second. The slowest was 1/32, stretching that same half-second into 16—and giving this four-minute music video a timescale ratio of 5.5 million. To pull the whole stunt off, we enlisted the help of two all-around cool artists: Jeff Lieberman and Eric Gunther. A huge thank you to both of them—and to our media darling, Orange Bill, of whom this post is in loving memory. This song, “End Love,” is from “Of the Blue Colour of the Sky,” an album we released 15 years ago. Well—almost. Remember to say “Happy Birthday” this Sunday. And remember to pre-save our NEW song, “A Stone Only Rolls Downhill,” which will be available everywhere on 1/16. (Psst: There’s a music video coming, too.) #OKGo #MusicVideo #EndLove #EchoPark #Nostalgia #SlowMo #FastMo #FunFacts
