👇 If your swing speed is significantly faster when you... Take a step forward to initiate your downswing... Then you need to work on exercises/drills that build more lateral speed... If you don't have a mega long backswing but have been trying to then this is for you... First of all, don't sweat it if you don't have a longer backswing because you can still move it out there with the big boys with a few adjustments... Always remember that a longer backswing only lengthens the runway... It doesn't increase the power of the engine! We all know golfers with a long, flexible swing who hit it nowhere... What's more important is width in your backswing... And a longer backswing is only truly longer so long as width is preserved... We all also know a golfer or two with a "short" but wide swing who pounds it... Most golfers with a shorter swing have it because they lack flexibility in one or several areas... So the problem is when they try to lengthen it they end up doing something that auses them to break down... Which causes them to lose width and not create any more speed... Plus it leads to inconsistencies... None of us want that! There are 2 BIG takeaways here: 1. A swing can only get so long anyway, so it would be better to work in creating more speed within your given range while maintaining width... *Acceleration* speed in particular is important to work on (yes there are different types of golf specific speed training)... Going back to the airplane and runway example... The plane that can accelerate faster can still take off with a shorter runway! 2. If you want to work on a longer swing then stop ✋️... Wait, what?? Hear me out... Trying to force the club back there longer and farther will lead to mechanical failure... Bad for a plane, bad for a golf swing! Instead, just work on developing more flexibility in specific areas... What you will find is with more flexibility your backswing will naturally want to be longer... You will actually have to purposely try not to at that point! Hope this helps. 💣🏌‍♂️🤙 #swingspeed #clubheadspeed #golffitness #stronggolfers #joshuacrews #golfworkout #ballspeed #golffitnessspecialist #golftok #golftiktok #golfr #golfer #pga #golftips #golfdrills #golfswing #golflesson
