the red in the artificial purple is attaching to the red inside the orange contributing pigment. when they attach to each other on a molecular level, the artificial purple has a better chance of lasting longer in the hair. it also creates balance and control in the fade, so it doesn't fade into that swampy green later. but since her hair was lifted to a 10 in the past, that loss of contributing pigment has become permanent, so those quadrants will always fade green until it has been grown out and cut off.
