And just a precursor before there's a whole panic in the comments, if you have one or more of these things it does not automatically make you autistic but these things do occur very commonly in autistic folks! #autistictraits #autismawareness #autisticcreator #autism #autismdad #stimmingisnormal #hyperempathy #hsp #highlysensitiveperson #highlysensitivepeople #highlysensitive #fypシ゚viral #foryoupage #sensoryneeds #socialcues #autismoftiktok #momtok #dadtok #autisticadult #latediagnosedautistic #latediagnosisadhd #autisticwomenoftiktok #vegan #socialjusticewarrior #stuffedanimals #neurodivergenttiktok #neurodivergence #neuroqueer

Many things can give us joy as a parent. But perhaps the greatest joy of all comes from seeing our kids happy, thriving and standing on their own two feet. This way we can see that all that hard work that we've put in as parents has been worth it all along. Conversely, it's hard to feel joy as a parent if you see yourself working hard day after day and it feels like nothing ever changes - your kid is still struggling and you are the one always picking up the slack. If you're feeling this way, please know we've changed that story for thousands of parents over the past 11 years and we'd love to do it for you too. As parents, we all want to help our kids. And we know that this help is making a difference when we see them thriving and growing emotionally. But what's the best way to help our kids have that kind of growth? Your best bet is to look for what I call the "yoga edge": that place where there's enough challenge to give them the stimulus to grow, but not so much that they are going to be overwhelmed and freak out. If we look for it, we can find the yoga edge in any situation where we want to help our kids, whether that's math homework, making friends or learning to ride their bike! Like the sound of this idea but not sure how to apply it to your specific situation? As parents, we want to love all our kids equally. But this can be challenging when we get a kid who not an easy match for our interests and communication style. We can find ourselves thinking "Help, my kid feels so different from me!" and we get easily frustrated when our efforts to love them and build bridges get thrown back at us. The good news is it is perfectly possible to build a great relationship with a kid who feels so different - it just requires a little translation, and I can show you how! At MFA, we teach you to read the secret parenting manual that's hiding inside your kid's brain so that they will actually want to listen to you, because now you'll be speaking in a language they can understand. 👉 link in bio, then choose 'work with me' #strongwilled #highlysensitive #parentingclasses #resilientfamilies #MotherFlippingAwesome #lovelanguages
Some of us love receiving physical touch. And others of us hate it! But did you know this applies to siblings too? The problem with physical touch as a love language is that your kids won't necessarily know how to respect each other's preferences here. So if you've got one kid who thrives on touch - which can either be affectionate or rough and tumble - and one kid who hates it, you might be in for problems as they end up provoking each other unnecessarily. 😬 The best thing to do in this scenario is to help the kid who enjoys touch to find other ways they can meet that need. This could be through cuddling with a pet or with you as a parent, if you also enjoy this mode of communication. Alternatively, if you've got a kid who likes rough and tumble, try getting them into martial arts or just play wrestling with them yourself - safely, of course! Want more temperament-based strategies for more fun and less fights in your home? We often find ourselves living with kids and other family members who have very different communication styles to us. As parents, it's important that we learn our kids' love languages and make an effort to use them regularly. However, teaching our kids how to love US is also an important skill, and will help to build empathy and set them in good stead for future relationships. Want to learn more about how to love the people in your life more effectively and have them do the same for you? At MFA, the training that we give to parents is ENTIRELY based on teaching you to better understand your kids' temperaments - and your own! - so that you can always be sure that you're communicating in a way that's going to be heard ❤️👉 link in bio then choose 'work with me'. #strongwilled #highlysensitive #parentingclasses #resilientfamilies #MotherFlippingAwesome #lovelanguages
“Nothing has changed.” “I’m still stuck.” “It’s all happening again.” “I’m too broken to handle this.” If you’ve ever had these thoughts during an emotional flashback, you’re not alone. These moments can feel overwhelming, disorienting, and even defeating—but here’s the truth: emotional flashbacks are a normal part of the human experience. We don’t talk about them enough, but everyone has times when their brain replays old emotions because something in the present feels a little too familiar to the past. The good news? These flashbacks don’t define your journey. They don’t mean you haven’t grown or that you’re stuck. They’re simply a reminder to pause, ground yourself, and reconnect with your progress. In this week’s podcast episode, we’re diving into what emotional flashbacks are, why they happen, and how they can obscure your growth. Most importantly, we’ll share practical ways to ground yourself and move forward with clarity and confidence. Listen now on your favorite platform and take back control of your narrative. #emotionalhealing #selfgrowth #mindsetshift #traumarecovery #selfcompassion #innerwork #innerworkwithmaryannwalker #emotional #emotionalflashbacks #Flashback #highlysensitive #highlysensitiveperson #hsp #progress #progressoverperfection
Do you know your child's love language? And are you using it when you communicate with them? These are two really important questions to ask yourself if you want to have a great relationship with your kid. Because, guess what? If your child's love language is different from yours, all that effort you're putting in to show them you love them may not be landing!!! This can be frustrating and painful for both of you which is why it's totally worth learning to communicate in a way they can actually hear! Want to know more about your kid and why they do the crazy things they do? Ever need to ask them to brush their teeth or stop hitting their sibling? Then you have to say it in such a way that they can actually HEAR you – so they can actually LISTEN! 😉😂👉 Link in bio then choose 'work with me' to learn more #strongwilled #highlysensitive #parentingclasses #resilientfamilies #MotherFlippingAwesome #lovelanguages
